The name 'Rampant Lion' comes from the coat of arms, which is authentic. It belonged to William le Marshal (1146-1219), Marshal of England and Guardian of the King and the Realm. William was one of 3 chief framers of the Magna Charta, was Counselor to 4 English Kings (Henry II, Richard "The Lion-Hearted", John and Henry III), and, in the words of Stephen Langton, Archbishop of Canterbury, was the "greatest knight that ever lived". Jay is directly descended from William le Marshal.
